Neo-Chinese style has been absolutely booming over the past few years, but very few brands manage to strike that perfect, delicate balance between traditional charm and modern fashion. I recently had the pleasure of trying out a full Neo-Chinese look from LUXE ORIENTA, and wearing it finally made me understand why so many people are falling in love with this understated yet high-end Eastern aesthetic.
For this look, I chose the Gradient Crane Embroidered xiangyunsha Mamian Skirt paired with the Champagne Silk Jacquard Chinese Shirt.
Crafted from 100% mulberry silk xiangyunsha, you can feel the signature softness and buttery smoothness of premium silk the moment you touch it. The gradient design of the skirt is incredibly unique, transitioning naturally from deep brown to black. Paired with the crane and floral embroidery, it completely sheds the heavy, stiff feel often associated with traditional garments, offering a modern and sophisticated edge instead. When walking, the pleats and drape of the skirt move beautifully—it’s an absolute dream for taking photos.
The top is also made of 100% mulberry silk, and the champagne gold hue is both gentle and elegant. My absolute favorite feature is the jacquard detailing—the bamboo and floral patterns subtly catch the light as you move. It’s never overly flashy, yet it oozes premium quality. Elements like the pearl buttons, mandarin collar, and lantern sleeves are masterfully executed, blending Chinese heritage into the design so naturally that it feels completely wearable for everyday life without looking overdone.

I wanted to provide a quick sizing reference for everyone. The brand mentions that they use a Chinese sizing system, which theoretically should run smaller than US/EU sizing, but my personal experience was actually the exact opposite. I typically wear a US size XS or even XXS. For this look, I opted for the Mamian skirt in size M (the smallest available on the website) and the top in size S. However, both pieces turned out to be too large for me. I wanted to wear the Mamian skirt a bit higher up, but the waist was so loose it kept slipping down. If you have a more petite frame like me, I highly recommend carefully checking the size chart and considering your options before placing an order.
