First of all, a heartfelt thank you to @dealmoon and LUXE ORIENTA for giving me the opportunity to wear such a stunning qipao. 🫶

Ever since I watched In the Mood for Love, I’ve been completely captivated by the elegance of qipao. Although my body proportions have never been what people would consider “ideal” for this silhouette, I’ve still collected quite a few over the years — I even had some custom-made. But after having a baby, I honestly thought I’d never feel confident wearing one again.

This red-to-purple gradient Xiangyunsha silk qipao from LUXE ORIENTA became my very first “battle dress” after motherhood.

Before ordering, I worried that a qipao like this might be too demanding on the body shape. To my surprise, the fit was incredibly flattering. For reference, I’m 160 cm (5’3”) and 49 kg (108 lbs), and I chose a size M. It fit beautifully, with just a little room around the waist — perfect for the comfort and confidence I need at this stage of life.

What impressed me most was the level of attention paid to every detail.

As many people know, qipao can be notoriously difficult to wear well. I have relatively narrow shoulders and not much of a waist-to-hip curve, which can easily make traditional qipao silhouettes look stiff or boxy on me. But the thoughtful tailoring of this dress completely changed that experience.

The curved shoulder and sleeve design subtly balanced my proportions while softening the appearance of my arms. The gradient color transition — brighter at the top and gradually deepening toward the hem — visually enhanced the body’s natural curves in such an elegant and clever way.

I also appreciated the neckline design. The collar height felt especially flattering for someone like me who doesn’t have a long neck. And the slit was perfectly balanced: elegant and elongating without feeling overly revealing.

This was my first time trying Chinese fashion from LUXE ORIENTA, and I was genuinely impressed by the quality. From the packaging to the frog buttons, from the inner construction to the stitching, every detail reflected exceptional craftsmanship.

This Xiangyunsha qipao is crafted from 100% mulberry silk, with a soft, understated sheen and an incredibly lightweight, breathable feel. Even in warmer weather, it remains comfortable and airy — a huge plus for anyone who values both luxury and comfort.

For styling, I think this dress pairs beautifully with pearl earrings, a jade bracelet, or delicate gold jewelry for an effortlessly refined oriental look.
