As a huge fan of Neo-Chinese style, I love sharing my outfits with everyone and bringing the perfect blend of tradition and innovation to the overseas community. Being a native of Nanjing, I’ve always had a natural affinity for silk culture. A huge thank you to Dealmoon and the sponsor! The brand I’m reviewing today, LUXE ORIENTA, also hails from Nanjing, which made me even more excited for this look.

For reference, I am 160 cm / 45 kg. The Mamian skirt fits me perfectly—it covers my instep, keeping to the more traditional silhouette. The top has a looser fit, making it versatile enough to be worn as an outer layer.
The highlight of this Mamian skirt is its xiangyunsha weave. Xiangyunsha has become incredibly popular in the Neo-Chinese fashion scene over the past few years. High-quality xiangyunsha is best known for being skin-friendly, breathable, and moisture-wicking, keeping you cool, dry, and odor-free during the summer.
Another signature feature of authentic xiangyunsha is its brick-red underside. This skirt is a textbook example—when you flip it over, you can see that iconic brick-red interior.
In terms of cut, it adopts the traditional Mamian skirt design, featuring a high waist and crisp, structured pleating that looks incredibly elegant and dignified. The black base naturally carries a classical aura, and the exquisite embroidery—featuring landscapes, pavilions, butterflies, and mandarin ducks—adds stunning detail, making this skirt perfect for formal or semi-formal occasions.
This top is crafted from mulberry silk jacquard brocade. Because it’s woven with golden metallic threads, it catches the sunlight with a shimmering, almost "liquid gold" texture.
The fabric also features subtle, woven patterns of bamboo leaves and florals. From afar, it looks beautifully understated, but up close, it reveals rich, sophisticated layers that give off a very high-end, elegant vibe.
Texture-wise, it feels a bit like organza, giving the garment great structure and hold. Even though it looks slightly voluminous, it’s actually surprisingly slimming when worn.
As for comfort, it isn’t quite as chilly to the touch as pure silk, but it is still highly breathable. I’d say it’s perfect for air-conditioned indoor spaces in the summer, or for outdoor wear during spring and autumn.
Another major selling point for me is its versatility.
Paired with the Mamian skirt, it delivers a full, authentic Neo-Chinese look. However, it also looks fantastic styled separately with jeans or trousers, and can even be worn as a lightweight sun-protection jacket. You'll definitely get a lot of wear out of it.

The fabric and craftsmanship on both pieces are top-tier. Items made of pure silk and xiangyunsha, coupled with hand-embroidery, naturally carry high production costs, so I completely understand the price point.
That being said, if you’re looking to purchase, I’d recommend keeping an eye out for brand promotions or end-of-year sales. Snagging them at a discount will give you even better value for your money.

Overall, this outfit perfectly bridges traditional craftsmanship with modern styling. As someone who loves Neo-Chinese fashion and hopes to promote Chinese culture abroad, wearing pieces like this always fills me with a special sense of pride.
