A heartfelt thank you to @Dealmoon and LUXE ORIENTA for this wonderful review opportunity. Ever since visiting the Jiangnan region of China, I completely fell in love with the beauty and grace of qipao.
LUXE ORIENTA is a design brand dedicated to modern high-end Chinese fashion, blending traditional oriental clothing culture with the language of contemporary luxury fashion. Created by renowned fashion label Leah Zhang, the brand specializes in qipao, Tang jackets, and modern Chinese-inspired outerwear, using carefully selected premium fabrics such as mulberry silk and Xiangyunsha silk.
What makes this red-purple gradient qipao especially unique is its use of traditional Xiangyunsha craftsmanship — far beyond ordinary dyed silk.
Unlike conventional printed fabrics, Xiangyunsha silk undergoes an intricate heritage dyeing process using natural plant-based dyes and river mud sun-curing techniques. This creates a distinctive texture and depth that gives the fabric a natural sense of layering and what I can only describe as a “time-worn elegance.”
Because of the handcrafted nature of the process, each piece develops slightly different gradient transitions, making every dress feel uniquely artistic.
The fabric is made from 100% mulberry silk, and it feels incredibly soft, breathable, and comfortable against the skin.
For sizing, the brand selected the size based on my height and weight. I received an XL, which gave me a slightly relaxed fit that still looked elegant. Personally, I think an L would have suited me even better.
One thing I especially loved is that although red qipao can sometimes appear overly mature, this design felt completely different. Once worn, it carried the gentle, refined elegance often associated with women from Jiangnan.
The handcrafted gradient embroidery looks absolutely magical under sunlight — almost dreamlike in its beauty.
